Why we built it
Every "free online image converter" asks you to upload your photos first. For a single holiday picture that is fine. For a folder of employee ID scans, medical documents or an unreleased product catalogue, it is a liability: your files travel across the internet, sit in someone else's queue, and are often retained for hours or longer, governed by a privacy policy nobody reads.
Modern browsers already contain a complete image pipeline. They can decode JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and GIF, resize with high-quality filters, and re-encode in any format the platform supports — all in a few milliseconds, on your own processor. BulkMedia simply exposes that capability through a clean interface.
The result: a converter with no upload step, no queue, no storage limit and no privacy risk. A two-thousand-image batch moves at the speed of your disk, not your internet connection.
How it stays private
- Files are opened with the browser's own File API — never transmitted.
- Conversion runs in Web Workers, so the page stays responsive without a server.
- Results live in memory as Blob objects until you download them.
- Closing the tab discards everything.
- The tool keeps working with your network disconnected.

What we do not do
- We do not require an account, an email address or a login.
- We do not add watermarks.
- We do not limit how many images you convert per day.
- We do not sell, share or analyse your files — we never receive them.
How the site is funded
BulkMedia is free and supported by display advertising. The converter has no paid tier and no premium upgrade. Advertising appears alongside the tool, never inside your workflow, and never interrupts a conversion.
